Mamas & Babies Weekend
Most of my friends don’t have children yet and I’m not going to lie, it’s a little bit lonely. I do have a very good childhood bestfriend (talking became friends in 1st grade!)Â who has a little boy who just turned one. Last weekend Jake was out of town so they came to stay. Felisha is such a dear friend to me. I can be myself and talk about “mom” things, vent, etc. We stayed around the house all weekend, I cooked, we took the boys for a walk, let them play outside, and we were all in bed by 9:30 each night. Ha – how the times have changed!
Raylon-isms
Goodness gracious, I love this little boy to the moon.
I was just telling Jake the other day that I have no idea how the “terrible twos” became a thing because they’ve never been in our house! I’ve had people tell me to just wait until 3, but I’m holding out hope that he will still be a little angel – otherwise, I’ll eat my words 😉
Everyday he says something new that literally has us rolling on the floor laughing. I knew if I didn’t write them down, then I’d forget so here goes..
While walking by the new blanket ladder Jake bought: “Raylon not touch that. Raylon be verrrrry careful. Okay, Mama?”
While holding his fishing rod & I asked what he was doing: “I just go fishing with Pe-Pa”
Every time I pick him up from preschool: “I not wanna take a nap!”
“Mama, let’s go to Target and get an icee”
Counting: “one, two, free, six, sweven, eight, nine, ten” (somehow we miss four and five ;))
Every time I’m cooking: “Raylon wanna cook, but I not touch sharps!” (he calls knives sharps)
“Mama you weally cool” I’ll remind him of this ten years from now when I’m really dumb!
One morning when I asked what he wanted for breakfast: “vegetables!”
My favorite- “Mama, wanna play tracks with me?” I’ll stop anything to play trains with that boy!
Other funny things:
- He calls all meat “chicken”
- He wants a baby brother or sister
- He loves all green vegetables
- He hates the doctor, but loves to play doctor
- He knows his blessing and reminds us to say it if we forget
- He’s fully potty trained – glow in the dark stars for the win!
- His daddy is his best friend, but he still needs his mama 😉
- He looooves preschool
- He hates taking naps and going to bed now
- He could still live outside if we let him
- He’s obsessed with all of his grandparents
- He’s also still obsessed with farms, farm animals, tractors, etc.
- He weighs 43 lbs and Mama has some amazing arms to show for it – ha!
Simple French Toast – Easy and Yummy!
This winter weather in NC has had us stuck inside for three days. I needed something to kill time this morning and fill our bellies up! I made this simple French toast using things we had in the pantry, and man was it yummy!
Simple French Toast

- 4 eggs
- â…” cup milk
- â…“ cup flour
- â…“ cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- â…› teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 slices of bread
- Butter, for cooking and spreading
- Syrup
- Mix together dry ingredients in a medium-sized bowl
- Beat together eggs, milk and vanilla then add to dry ingredients and combine
- Heat a large skillet or griddle
- Add butter to skillet
- Dip each slice of bread in egg mixture and flip once
- Continue adding butter as you cook more slices.
